Design & build process

We pride ourselves on delivering one of the best all in one London loft conversion design and build packages. If you choose to instruct Simply Loft, your project will be taken through a series of six simple stages:

2. Contract

3. Design & Planning

Site Survey

One of our friendly Simply Loft advisors will visit your home to carry out a site survey.

During this meeting, they will be able to advise on what type of loft conversion and layout is feasible for your home as well as take essential measurements required for your quotation. Once this information is collected, you will then receive a free no obligation quotation.

If you are looking to add a kitchen extension or other refurbishment work at the same time our sister company Simply Extend can help. Our surveyors are also qualified to quote for extensions and refurbishments so we can measure up for all your work at the same time.

Forgotten to add or want to change something? There’s no need to worry, as you can change your quotation as many times as you wish before committing.


Once you are happy with your quotation, a contract is drawn up and signed agreeing to complete the loft conversion for a fixed price and set timescale.

Design and Planning Process

If required, a member of our architectural team will visit your home to complete a survey and produce a set of plans. We can also help with structural calculations and dealing with building control as well as submitting your plans under permitted development or full planning.

Party Wall Agreement

A party wall agreement is requited if your home has a wall that is connected to another property on either side. Each neighbour will have to be informed of the proposed works using a party wall notice form at least two calendar months before the start of the build. At Simply Loft, we can provide advice on this process and if necessary put you in touch with one of our certified Party Wall Surveyors.


Once the planning or permitted development is gained, the actual construction of your loft conversion can begin. A typical loft conversion takes between 6 – 8 weeks to complete.

You will be assigned a dedicated Project Manager who will arrange regular meetings to review progress and keep your project running to schedule.

All clients of Simply Loft will also have access to our innovative Simply Dashboard System. This allows clients to receive updates on the progress of their job as well as review other important documents and information including their payment programme. The system also allows a client to request additional work to be added to their loft conversion as the project progresses for which they will receive a fast and accurate new quote.


Once your loft conversion is complete and you are happy, Simply Loft ensures that you are issued with all relevant certification including building control completion certificates (required should you decide to sell your home), and also details of our 10 year guarantee.
