Rear & L-Shaped Dormer Loft Conversion Case Study South East London
Brief: Rear and L-section loft conversion to a home on Doyle Road, South Norwood, South London, creating an extra two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Natasha and her partner Asif contacted Simply Loft to carry out an extensive loft conversion to their home in South Norwood. Natasha’s period home made it ideal for a loft conversion, in particular having the l-section part to build out and extend on top of. In this particular example a rear dormer and l-section loft conversion was chosen as the most appropriate type of loft to design, in order to maximise every part of the roof available. Natasha and Asif ideally wanted two extra bedrooms adding to their home as well as an extra bathroom so the rear dormer and l-section loft design they chose was able to accommodate their needs perfectly.
After working with Simply Loft’s architectural team and completing all designs and permissions necessary, their project proceeded to the construction phase. The first step was to remove the existing roof and build the structure for the dormer and l-section. After this was completed, the new floors are built along with any first fix electrics and plumbing. Stud walls are also constructed laying out areas for the new bedrooms and bathroom.
The end result is a bright, modern and huge space added to their home! Both bedrooms act as spacious double bedrooms perfect for family or guests and the bathroom has been finished to a perfect standard with neutral tiles transforming the space entirely.
