Brief: Rear dormer loft conversion on Garden Avenue, Mitcham, South London. Loft conversion designed to create an extra bedroom and large adjoining bathroom.
Rear dormer loft conversions are extremely popular across South and Greater London due to the large amount of extra space they can add to a family home as well as the value they can bring to a house price. Our client was keen to add an extra bedroom and bathroom to their home. With their house originating from the 1930’s and being a terraced property, a rear dormer loft conversion was the logical answer to their design.
Our team of architects and structural engineers worked with our client to produce a design and set of drawings that could be submitted to Merton council for approval. Their scheme fell within permitted development rights, which meant we only needed to apply for a lawful development certificate. Once this was in place as well as structural calculations and party wall agreements, we could then hand everything over to our construction team and trades. Our loft conversions can be constructed in as little as a few weeks to a plastered finish and this project was no exception. Our client’s children were delighted to move into their new rooms and the whole family are enjoying the benefits this extra space has made to their home.
