Brief: A hip to gable rear and L-shaped mansard loft conversion to an end terrace first floor flat on Merton Road, Earlsfield, South West London. The aim was to create two bedrooms and adjoining shower room.
It’s surprising how much space you can add to a top floor flat with a loft conversion. This was the case with this stunning project we have just finished on Merton Road in Earlsfield, South West London. Our client effectively turned their two bedroom flat into a four bedroom, two bathroom property, substantially adding value as well as space at the same time. In order to start this project our architectural team worked with our client to produce a set of plans. As the property was a flat, it was necessary to put the drawings through planning permission.
Once this was achieved and party wall letters and structural calculations were in place, our construction team could begin working on the actual loft conversion, bringing our client’s approved plans to life. This project was quite a complex loft conversion – consisting of levelling out the hipped end of the roof and adding a dormer to the rear. Over the l-section of the first floor, a mansard loft conversion was created. In between both loft areas, a shower room was created that both new bedrooms could access.
This added a considerable amount of space to our client’s home and the finished result was stunning. Each bedroom was large enough to house a double bed, perfect as a master bedroom or for visiting friends and family. The shower room was beautifully finished with white tiles and feature floor tiles. The sink was wall mounted for a lovely effect. In the rear bedroom and bathroom, sash windows were added to complement the period features of our client’s home.
