It is certainly unprecedented times here as we at the Simply Construction Group including Simply Loft navigate our way through the Covid-19 or Coronavirus pandemic. We have had to carefully think about how we operate, whilst at the same time keeping our staff, colleagues and clients safe as we continue to provide you with the best possible service.
If you are a prospective client, there are a few ways that we may be able to help you whilst we are in this lockdown period:
Virtual Loft Conversion Site Surveys
Our friendly Surveyors are all working remotely from home at the moment. This means that we are able to carry out virtual appointments through whichever digital platform you prefer. Our surveyors are well versed in carrying out appointments now over FaceTime, Zoom, or Watsapp video calling. If you would rather carry out an appointment over the telephone only, this is fine also any images or details you would like us to consider can be emailed over at the same time. Please call our diary team on 0800 917 7571 to book in a suitable time and please mention to them which method you would like to be contacted on.
During the virtual appointment the surveyor will take you through any measurements that are required in order to help us produce a loft conversion quote that is as accurate as possible. At the same time we can also look through any planning permission that has been granted on your street in the past as to what may be feasible for your loft conversion project.
If you would prefer to wait until the lockdown has finished before you progress your loft conversion project, we can at a later stage visit your property in person and meet with you to go through the final details and costings.
Home Visits / Site Surveys Still Available
We are still taking bookings for home site surveys (or face to face appointments). Our surveyors will be equipped with PPE and will able to carry out the survey and discuss your requirements for your quotation using social distancing measures; providing no-one in the house is showing symptoms or isolating. This is based on the latest government guidelines. If infection rates increase we will have to temporarily suspend this service. Home visits allow us to take the most accurate measurements possible and therefore provide you with an accurate quotation. Still prefer a virtual appointment? No problem – our team are taking bookings for both options.
Do you have Architectural Plans already?
If you are already further along the process of planning your loft conversion and you already have a set of architectural plans, these can be emailed to info@simplyloft.co.uk . One of our surveyors will be appointed to correspond with you and provide you with a detailed quote! This can be turned around within a matter of a few days if not sooner. You will then be able to liaise with your surveyor and amend your quote if needed. If you are happy with the costs we have provided, then we can share with you details of our contract, payment milestones etc. We have excellent construction teams ready to bring your loft conversion plans to life once you have received any necessary planning permission.
Party Wall Agreements
If you are keen on progressing your loft conversion, have your plans ready and want to save time throughout the lockdown, then now would be a good time to start securing any necessary party wall agreements. You can find more information on the government’s website at https://www.gov.uk/party-walls-building-works. Simply Loft as a building contractor is unable to help with this process as it must be carried out independently. We can however give broad advice and our surveyors can help provide you details of a recommended independent party wall surveyor if needed.
Ready to start?
If you are keen to start your loft conversion under a design and build package, our team of architects are able to measure and design your space using social distancing measures. The lockdown period is a perfect time to submit these plans for either planning permission or permitted development. Once the plans are approved our structural engineers can produce the associated structural calculations. With all the paper work in place including party wall agreements, we can then hand over your loft conversion project to our building teams.
