Brief: Rear dormer loft conversion to a mid-terraced house in Morden, Surrey. Created one bedroom and one bathroom.

Simply Loft were delighted to take on this full design and build project in Morden, Surrey, to create our clients dream loft space. As this house is not in a conservation area and the plans fitted within permitted development, the project did not require planning permission. A full explanation of which types of loft conversions fit within permitted development regulations can be found in our Complete Loft Conversion Guide.

This loft conversion created one new bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, creating a whole new level to the house. Many homeowners do not realise the potential their loft has or the number of rooms they can get from their loft. Our experienced surveyors are on hand to discuss all of the options available to you and it can be surprising to see how much extra space they can add to your property!

The Bedroom

This project was a rear dormer loft conversion, one of the most popular types of conversion, due to the space they add and their reasonable price. Our clients opted to have beautiful Velux skylights to bring in the natural light to their new space. The mirrored wardrobe reflects this natural light around the room, and the white colour scheme helps to make this room look bright and airy. There are extra storage cupboards built into the wall under the eaves to utilise every inch of the space the loft conversion provides.

In a beautiful area like Surrey, it is understandable that our clients chose to have a Juliet balcony in the bedroom, so they can look out over the incredible scenery surrounding the house. Juliet balconies are a great way of adding depth to your loft conversion, bringing light into every level of the room and adding extra ventilation on hot summer days.

The Ensuite

Immediately your attention is drawn to the bright red tiling our clients have picked out for the shower area and sink splashback, creating a stunning effect! Typically, a loft conversion bathroom is placed under the sloped eave of the conversion as they are designed to be quite small, but in this project a larger bathroom has been designed. This makes it more of a main feature in the loft conversion and with the mirrored wardrobe opposite it, the red tiles are reflected proudly in the bedroom.

This loft conversion testifies to the fact that simple can be beautiful, especially when it comes to designing your loft conversion.
