Client: Harry
Brief: Mansard loft conversion to a home on Meadow Road in Wimbledon, South West London, creating one bedroom with adjoining en-suite bathroom.
With more than a quarter of all UK houses being terraced, more and more property owners of terraced homes are looking to expand to gain much needed extra space.
As we have done here with our client Harry from Wimbledon, London, a mansard loft conversion was required. Mansard loft conversions are deemed some of the most aesthetically pleasing types of loft conversion, due to their slightly angled roof lines. in this example, by adding the mansard conversion onto an existing roof of a cramped attic, the loft was transformed into usable space thanks to the creation of additional headroom and floor space all bathed in natural light provided by the dormer windows.
Once the new roof and interior space was created by our construction team, Simply Loft fully fitted the new bathroom and bedroom which resulted in a truly charming and welcoming space. Additional storage was also added with under eaves cupboards and a fitted closet.
Adding a mansard loft conversion to a home usually requires planning permission. Our Simply Loft design team was able to work with Harry to come up with a suitable scheme and make the necessary applications to the council, which in this case was Merton. If you are unsure whether your project falls under permitted development, or requires planning permission, the Simply Loft team would be able to advise you further when one of our experienced surveyors visits you at your home.
