Brief: Rear Dormer Loft Conversion, Terraced house, 2 Floors, not in a conservation area, creating 1x Bedroom, 1x Bathroom.
Our latest project on Braidwood Road, Catford involved converting a loft into a stylish and practical extra bedroom, complete with a fully integrated ensuite bathroom and smart storage solutions. Our Catford clients wanted to maximise their home’s potential, adding both comfort and value while maintaining a seamless design that complemented the rest of their property.
This rear dormer loft conversion case study showcases how our expert team delivered a high-quality loft conversion, optimising space, functionality, and style to create a stunning new living area.
One of the key features of this loft conversion were the eaves, which presented both a challenge and an opportunity in the design. Eaves can sometimes make a space feel restricted, but with smart design choices, they can enhance the functionality and style of a room. To counteract any sense of limitation, we installed a skylight, allowing natural light to flood the area and create a brighter, more open feel. Additionally, a skylight was added to the eave in the stairway, helping to visually connect the loft to the rest of the house while improving the overall flow of light throughout the property. To further enhance the loft’s shape, we introduced an accent wall that works in harmony with the skylight. This feature adds depth and character to the space, drawing the eye upward and making the room feel more expansive. The combination of natural light and a carefully chosen accent wall not only maximises the sense of space but also adds a stylish and contemporary touch to the overall design.
Our clients wanted a loft space that not only felt open and inviting but also offered smart, practical storage solutions to maximise every inch of space. With the eaves creating naturally lower sections in the room, it was important to make use of these areas in a way that was both functional and stylish. To achieve this, we designed built-in storage that seamlessly integrates with the sloped walls, ensuring that no space was wasted. Understanding the need for convenience, we incorporated bespoke bedside storage, giving our clients easy access to essentials while maintaining a clean and uncluttered look. Additionally, a wall-to-wall clothing rail was installed along the lower section of the eave, transforming an otherwise underutilised area into a practical wardrobe solution. These custom storage features were tailored to our clients’ needs, providing them with a loft space that is as efficient as it is beautiful.
The addition of an ensuite bathroom with a shower to this rear dormer conversion, meant the loft could function as a completely independent living area. Thoughtful finishing touches, such as the black tap, radiator, and showerhead, were chosen to complement the modern aesthetic and create a cohesive design.
