When you start to think about your loft conversion project, it can be overwhelming to think about every single detail that needs to be planned out. Alongside the larger planning aspects, like the floor plan, number of rooms, and technical details, you need to consider the smaller details too. Ironing out these details is incredibly important if you are working to a deadline, as any last-minute changes, called variations, can delay completion of your build.
Initially, the planning process of your loft conversion starts at your site survey. This will be when one of our surveyors visit your property and tells you which type of loft conversion is best suited to your property type and budget. From this, you can then discuss how many rooms you want from this new space, and if you want any bathrooms, ensuites or even a loft kitchen area. This will form the basis of the quote our surveyors will create for you. Within this quote, you will also discuss which type of glazing you would like, finished flooring, bathroom tiles and internal doors.

At Simply Loft, we can supply, fit, and decorate your loft conversion if you so choose. However, if you initially decide you want Simply Loft to create the shell to a plastered finish and not decorate, your predicted timescale will be shorter. If you decide midway through the construction process that you would like us to do the decorating too, this will count as a variation and will add time and cost to your original quote. Therefore, it is important to have a firm idea of what you want Simply Loft to do in the planning stages, so that your project doesn’t take longer than you are expecting when there are variations.
Some of the most typical variations we have clients asking us for, or changing their minds on, include the number of electrical points in the rooms and items such as extra radiators. At Simply Loft, we will also not quote for any bespoke carpentry for your new loft conversion, but some of our teams may be able to cater to this as a variation. But please bear in mind, any additional items like bespoke carpentry and fitting will add time to the final completion of your loft conversion!

If you would like Simply Loft to decorate your loft conversion, the cost of decorating can be included in your initial quote. When you discuss your ideas and plans in your initial site survey, mention all the work you would like completed by our building teams. From this information, we can then give you a more detailed timeframe for your project to be completed in, which will reduce the chances of any disappointment should your project take longer following a last-minute variation.
