At Simply Loft, we offer those interested in a London loft conversion a free, no-obligation site survey and quote to help them decide whether a loft conversion is right for them. But what happens in a typical site survey?
First of all, the surveyor will sit down with you and talk through your brief. For instance, do you have any particular ideas of what they want to do with their loft space? What do you plan on using it for? These questions give the surveyor a more specific idea of what’s needed, and what optional extras you may want.
The surveyor will then measure the existing loft space and check the cavity to see what’s possible and what work is needed. For instance if the ridge height doesn’t meet the required minimum of 2.2 metres, the surveyor may recommend lowering the ceilings of the floor below in order to meet building regulations. Speaking of building control, the surveyor will also talk to you with regards any other special requirements needed in order to pass, such as windows, staircases etc..
Before finishing, the surveyor will speak to you about what happens from the point of signing a contract – should you choose to do so – right up to completion, and they will even give you an idea of potential timescales.
Within seven days of the site survey, you’ll receive your quote for your London loft conversion and will then be able to decide whether or not you wish to go ahead.
