Here, we’ll take you through the steps we need to follow in order to provide you with your dream loft conversion.
For many people, a loft conversion is still an excellent way of releasing extra space in a home, creating further bedroom/s and adding value to your property. During the Covid-19 pandemic the housing market has been hit hard and it is hard to currently sell and move home during this crisis. So if you are looking for extra space without moving home, then a loft conversion may be the answer.
Site Survey
The first step in getting the ball rolling on your loft conversion, is to call our friendly team on 0800 917 7571 and get yourself booked in for a free site survey with one of our expert surveyors. There is no need to panic as all our appointments can be currently carried out either over the telephone or via a video conferencing facility such as Zoom or even just a simple FaceTime video call. Our surveyors will take you through our process and what we need from you measurements wise to be able to supply you with a reasonably accurate quote. Once lockdown has eased and you would like to take your project forward we can come back and take accurate measurements to finalise your quote using social distancing measures.
Contract
If you are happy with our quote and have had the opportunity to chat with some of our references then the next stage would be take a look through our comprehensive contract and terms and conditions. All our payments are split into key milestones so you don’t need to worry about partying with large percentages of money up front.
Design & Planning
Once you have signed our contract and paid your deposit we will then get your plans for your loft conversion started with our architectural team. They will come to your home (using careful social distancing measures), re-take the measurements and then draw up the plans for your dream loft conversion. Everything else from that point onwards can be carried out over the phone or via email. Once you are happy with your plans they will then be submitted to the relevant council and we can wait for either planning approval or permitted development approval. In the meantime one of our Structural Engineers will also work on the structural calculations needed for our construction teams.
If you already have your plans and structural calculations in place then this part can be skipped and you will not be charge these fees in your quotation.
Construction
Once we have all the approvals in and you have secured any necessary party wall agreements from your neighbours we can hand over all the documentation to one of our experienced construction teams. Government guidance currently states that construction work can still carry on during the pandemic (providing that social distancing guidelines can be adhered to and that no-one in the property is isolating or displaying symptoms). Our teams are all still currently working as normal and are able to secure materials needed to build your loft conversion.
