Wanting an extra bathroom, whether that’s an en-suite, shower room or a full family bathroom is a prime motivator for a loft conversion. Many of our clients have chosen to add an additional bathroom to their home and our designers have had to be clever when it comes to design as space can be limited. We’ve looked back at some of our favourite projects to find the most inspirational, space saving and luxurious bathrooms to give you some fantastic ideas for your loft bathroom.
Vintage
This compact en-suite bathroom uses vintage inspired floor tiles to create a bold retro statement, that also makes the floor appear larger than it is. The white wall tiles give a clean and simple look and only tiling halfway keeps costs down, while still looking stylish. If you want to create a vintage bathroom style, accessories are key. Invest in a vintage mirror or an antique stand to keep all your towels and toiletries stored neatly away.
Under the eaves
Putting a bathroom under eaves not only creates an architecturally interesting space, but it’s also a great space saver too. Another advantage to a sloping roof is the opportunity to put in a skylight, which will flood the bathroom with light whilst still retaining privacy. This shower room design, has used bright white tiles to maximise light and where the roof becomes too low to be of much use, a storage cupboard has been installed – the perfect place to hide all those bathroom essentials.
Shower room
If space is short or if you prefer a shower to a bath, you can create a loft shower room. Depending on the space available, you can, like the bathroom concept above, create a large and luxurious shower area that is sure to leave you refreshed and revitalised. Bathroom spaces can sometimes be starved of light, but this South London loft conversion shower room design has used a floor to ceiling window which gives the room a light and airy feel and makes the space look larger.
Space saving
However small your space may be, you can create a perfect loft bathroom. This en-suite bathroom maximises the space it has by putting the bath under the eaves and creating a bath/shower combo. The vintage-inspired skylight gives the room character while letting in plenty of natural daylight. An en-suite is the ideal place to stamp your personality, as very few people ever get to see it. The owner of this loft conversion has used colourful flooring to create a unique haven that reflects their unique sense of style.
Full attic bathroom
Attic bathrooms are characterised by compact spaces, but this does not mean you cannot create a large luxurious full bathroom suite, that gives you the perfect space to unwind. This Oxfordshire loft conversion has incorporated a freestanding bath with a large double shower. The oversized skylight bathes the room in light and the sloping ceiling gives architectural interest. The nooks and crannies created by the eaves have been utilised as useful storage spaces.
